"In an effort to raise our school's grade, we targeted students reading below state standards and started them on the ELS program. Our main focus was low-performing fourth graders since they would be taking the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test for the first time in the spring. The strategy worked. The school earmed a B grade. This is quite an accomplishment since the district's resources are stretched and strained, the challenges overwhelming, and the schools overcrowded and bursting at the seams."
