CODEBREAKER™

CEI’s newest product, CODEBREAKER™, uses an action setting to incorporate the instructional methods endorsed by the National Reading Panel and the No Child Left Behind Act.

For this program, students act as adventurers who are exploring the Isle of the Phoenicians and trying to uncover a secret message. Students must complete several tasks and learn the target sound before the program will reveal the hidden message. By completing the tasks, students learn how to master all of the “codes” involved in reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
The NRP also endorsed motivation as a key component in successful reading instruction. Because of the adventure setting and role-playing scenario, students find working on the program both motivating and entertaining. To further motivate the students, CODEBREAKER™ uses positive reinforcement to solidify correct responses and correct learning patterns. Students immediately know whether or not an answer is correct because when they answer correctly, the articulation model praises them. If students respond incorrectly, the articulation model provides encouragement and reviews the concept to help the students understand their mistakes.
