"Students in our adult literacy program vary in age from 24 to 65 and are motivated to enroll in the program for a variety of reasons. One young mechanic in his mid-twenties entered the lab to improve his reading skills so he could pass a written mechanics test. In turn, he received a better job. Another senior citizen couple signed up for the program to improve their reading skills and get over their phobia of computers. Now, proficient enough on computers, they are looking to buy one."
